I think we learn perfectionism in school. Get good grades and we’ll call you a success. Make a ruckus and you’ll go to the principal’s office. Many people try to fit in to keep the heat off them.
But what if we saw that heat as refining instead of consuming?
History’s greatest achievements have come when inventors and revolutionaries set their own expectations about what is right and what isn’t.
I’m glad you taught your kids that perfectionism isn’t the standard. Effectiveness is. I hope they find all the success they could ever want.
