Just For the Fun of It
Sam Kimberle asked me to do this.
So why now?
Because I know myself well enough to see that unless I plan to have fun, I’ll bury myself in work.
So here goes!
Cake or pie?
Cake, because it feels less heavy on my stomach. But pie is probably better for you.
What’s your favorite memory from holiday seasons past?
Years ago, the holidays meant my family got to go to Savannah. It was a vacation from everything routine — work, school, even my own bedroom. And my grandmother’s cooking was so good.
What’s your favorite season?
Winter. Not for the cold. It’s the quiet I love. And the chance to reset and start anew. I love dreaming of a better future and winter gives me a kick start every January.
What’s your favorite flower?
Roses. They’re a great analogy for life — beauty among thorns.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
The ability to see into the future. Like most folks, I’d love to know what risks will pay off best. Just think of the time I could save!
What is something we probably don’t know about you?
My personality type is the rarest in the world. Once I learned about it, my life made more sense.
When you think about the future, what do you look forward to?
At my age, I think about what I’ll leave behind. My friend Brent’s death pushed me to think about this more. What I do today really matters tomorrow.
When you think about the past, do you have any regrets?
I wish I’d had more courage sooner. But now I know that all my hiding allowed me to nourish the creativity I enjoy now.
What was your high school superlative?
Most invisible. Seriously, I can’t remember having these at my school. But if there was a category for most likely to succeed as a writer, I’d love that one.
What is your favorite thing to have for breakfast?
Coffee. In fact, I love it so much I’ll have it after lunch, too. My almost 102 year old grandmother drinks it, so it’s gotta be good.
What four words would you use to describe yourself?
Inquisitive. Pensive. Creative. Persistent.
I’m not sure who to tag. If you’re reading this, I nominate you to accept this challenge!
