There’s value in anything if you look for it. Like all those math classes I took. Granted, I don’t do calculus in my spare time, but I do see how doing it back then has helped me solve problems now.

I just wish they’d drilled that into me then.

Teachers can open doors to make knowledge practical. So can we as writers. We do that with metaphors, stories, and by just seeing what’s going on without our biases interfering first.
