The Pen of a Poet

Pulled from my decades old notebook

The poet’s hand, as it was long ago.

The pen of a poet is a mighty sword
It seems to fulfill me if I should get bored.
For all this I hope I’ll receive some reward
So many more tablets I’ll be able to afford.

Nothing can match the free expression
A poem can use to lift off depression.
How it can ease the tension of living
And make my bad times a bit more forgiving.
